🛒 How to Buy NFTs on the Polygon network
-
Prepare your wallet – Make sure you have MetaMask (or another Web3 wallet) connected to OpenSea and set to the Polygon network.
-
Have enough POL (formerly MATIC) – You need a small amount of POL in your wallet to pay for the gas fees (transaction costs) on Polygon.
-
Have enough WETH – The NFT price is shown in WETH.
What is WETH? – WETH (Wrapped Ethereum) is basically ETH that has been converted to work on the Polygon network. Since Polygon is a different blockchain than Ethereum Mainnet, you can’t send regular ETH there directly. WETH is a token that represents ETH 1:1 but lives on Polygon, so it can be used for buying and selling NFTs on that chain. -
Don’t have WETH? – No problem! OpenSea will auto-convert your ETH (from other networks) or your POL (on Polygon) into WETH at checkout. Just select the token you want to pay with, and OpenSea handles the swap behind the scenes.
-
Click “Buy Now” – Review the total cost, confirm the transaction in your MetaMask wallet, and you’re done! The NFT will appear in your “Collected” tab.
